EDIT:
Weaponry in Final Legend
A lot of the weapons will be based off of actual museum pieces, and will even function like they do.
There are eight weapon disciplines in total
Pole Arms: Weapons such as the halberd or spear. they generally have two styles, an offensive and defensive.
the spear's special function(as in, when rune power would be pressed) is known as Charge! the player will hold the spear pointing in front of them, and gets a 15% sprint boost. Anyone that is in the way is either knocked off their feet, and if unarmoured, dead or mortally wounded.
The Halberd or any other halberd type weapon had three styles..Spear function, Hammer and Axe function. Basically with these weapons you can cycle different grips to take advantage of a certain part of the weapon. The axe portion's special is known as Hook, where the player will place the axe end behind an opponents neck and jerk back, causing them to fall to the ground and make for an easy spear kill, even if armoured. The spear portion of this weapon does the same as any normal spear. The Hammer part has the smash special, although it takes time, the player will left the poleweapon up to where it's end is behind him, and then pull forward in a deadly vertical blow, causing near instant death.
There's a few catches to using pole weapons though! you can't sheath them unless you've customized the shaft to have a belt, and they only do real damage if you hit them with the head of the weapon. Hitting them with the shaft would only incur minor damage, but has potential to knock back or make an enemy fall down.
List of poleweapons: Halberd, Spear, Scythe, Trident,Bec-de-corbain,Glaive,Pike,Pilum( you can throw it for a special!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Longswords: Usually two handed, only the Norden can use these with one hand from the start ( Other races have to learn the specific skill to use them one handed). These weapons usually come with three styles: Two handed, one handed(if unlocked), and Halfsword. So exactly wtf is halfsword? Halfswording is when you place one hand on the blade to attain a spear like grip of the sword. This allows for very powerful thrusting blows, and can help you attain a finer accuracy to pinpoint weaknesses in an opponents armour.
the special attacks goes as follows..
1 handed: Stab; will charge if holding down forward key. When using defend button with shield equiped, will perform shield bash instead.
2 Handed: Cutting Arc; the player swings the blade round his head in a large arc, doing area damage to any caught within it's length. Although be forewarned about your surroundings, you might hurt friendlies.
Half sword: Disarm. Only works the instant an opponent's weapon comes into contact with yours during this 2 second stance.
Has a 50% chance to work. If it succeeds, the opponents weapon flies from his hand, leaving him vulnerable(unless he belted a dagger or something), if it doesnt succeed, the oppoent will recoil from you, and you are free to attack him as he's stunned for a 2 second period.
Types of Longswords: Bastard Sword, Claymore, Tachi, Otachi, Zweihander.
i'll continue on with the weapons in my next post. And will come back and add photos of said weapons.
Weapons; Continued!
We left off with longswords..now we move to the Arming Swords..
These are your typical one handed swords. Decently sized, just about anyone can use. Broadswords and Rapiers also fit in this category. They're not too different than the Longsword, these just have shorter range, and tend to be a bit wider and as such deliver more trauma damage. They only have one style, but you can use a shield or another weapon with these. Specials are
With shield on and active: Shield bash
normal: Stab
The types of Arming swords include: Schiavonna, Baskethilt sword, Spatha, Celt Sword, Mortuary sword, Rapier, Colichemarde.
~~~~~~
On to the Shortsword..
These weapons are shorter than the arming sword, but have a stronger, more inflexible blade great for puncturing and vicious stabs, while also being one hell of a slasher.
Same specials as Arming Sword..
Types include: Gladius, Katzbalger, Smallsword, Wakizashi, Machete, Ada.
~~~~~~~
Hammers.
These weapons give very powerful trauma damage, and have high knock back and armour damaging attributes. Some even have a hard ass spike on the back side to penetrate armour! they're great for killing skeletons too.
Has two styles, player can switch to use Hammer head, or Spike head.
Specials are..
Hammer side: Savage blow, the player grips the weapon with two hands swings the hammer down on his opponent, either knocking him back if armoured, or wounding him really bad if unarmoured.
Spike side: Pierce, the player side steps and lets out a brutal, horizontal strike with the spike end onto his opponent.
Types include: Mace, Warhammer, Flail, cudgel, club.
Yes i know it seems to be a shit variety, but i actually plan for you to be able to customise weapons, IE change sword blade from straight to flammard, etc.
~~~~~~~~
Axes.
These combine the power of a sword's chop with a hammer's impact, and can be right brutal weapons. Most are two handed, but there are a few that are one handed or have switchable styles.
Special for Axes: Savage Chop, has a high chance to either decapitate or sever a foe's limbs, and can knock back targets.
Next up are the Daggers/Stealth/Backup Weapons.
Why these are so special, is that i plan there to be an emergency belt slot. Should you get disarmed, you will immediatly unsheath this weapon from that emergency slot.
Daggers in this game in general have two styles/functions; they can be gripped like an icepick for some hardcore stabbing, or held by the blade's tip for throwing.
A dagger's special is that if you're behind someone with icepick mode, you you aim for their back, you'll stab them in the neck.
In throwing mode, all you need to do is aim for a target's vulnerable point that is in ragne and throw it at him. Although it won't be insta kill if you dont hit im in a good spot, IE back of neck/head,spine, etc.
Types of Daggers and Stealth weapons: Rondel,Kestral,Dirk,Kriss,Kunai,Tanto,Sickle(can be modified to have a ball and chain too!)
Up last are the Marksman weapons..
That means longbows,shortbows,recurvebows,crossbows and black powder guns.
These don't really have any inherent special ability, but are potentially deadly on their own, all it requires is a good shot.
As obvious, bows will have a higher fire rate, although they lack the STOPPAN POWA and ARMOUR PIERCAN capacity of .58 calibre musket round. Well the downside to that is they take a bit to reload, and emit a lot of smoke and can obscure your sight.
so imma break it down..
Rifles - Good to about 100 yards, takes about a good 12 seconds to reload if adequately trained.
Pistoles - Good to about 30 yards, takes a good 7 seconds to reload if adequately trained.
Pros - Good at piercing armour, and the sound and sight of these things firing off will no doubt scare some Knights away, let alone anyone in front of their business end.
Cons - Slow reload, not very good with melee unless customised with a bayonet.
Crossbow: good for about 350 yards, decent reload time. Any jackass could use one. decent armour piercing, with a heavy enough bolt. Although heavier the bolt, the less the range.
Longbow: good for about 250 yards, good reload time, have to have some skill to use although( Game will have no crosshairs, you queer. Unless you customize them on their of course so you can aim with iron sights :3 )
Shortbow: good up to 150 yards, fast reload, Not too good armour armour penetrating. best use these against peasant militias :P
Pros - Fast reload, decent armour piercing, even better if you customize the bows into recurve versions of the above (except crossbows, they get scopes, and heavier strings!)
Cons - not quite as fearsome as teh GUNZ, but they work pretty well any ways when suited up.
~~~~~~~~
Yes i've mentioned alot about weapon customization. I plan there to be a feature where you can customize just about any weapon to fit your needs.
You can get shit like different sword pommels,hilts and guards, as well as different blades. You can even pimp them out with jewelry and gold too.
Pommels, in general effect the weapons balance, IE how fast you'll recover from making a strike.
Guards just make sure you don't get your hands hurt. Bigger guards = Better hand protection.
Hilts, the larger the hilt, the more styles might be available to you. Hilts also effect overall attack power on weapons, and even aid with speed and dexterity. Ever heard of a two handed shortsword? :troll:
Blades, you can get different ones. Some wavy, some wide or straight. Some just really fucking long, or even stubby.
Ranged shit can get things like different shafts, from normal to recurve, iron sights, scopes, and if you got a horn of Greek fire, you can set your arrows ablaze if it so pleases you.
Same applies to guns, except you cant use arrows (Duh), but can get new barrels for bigger calibres and such and such.
Also scopes and iron sights apply here.
Combat in Final Legend is to be pretty realistic.
As such, armour gives you no defence rating at all, but instead has a quality.
For example, an 18 gauge steel breastplate isnt as good or strong as a say a 14 gauge steel breastplate. Why? because the steel is made thicker in 14 gauge. But even then if you are wearing the breast plate, the rest of your body would be vulnerable. Not to mention you would incure badass trauma damage should you luckily get hit on that Breastplate. Thankfully, there's an item known as a gambeson, which is padding you wear under the armour to reduce trauma damage.
So wearing a breastplate, get stabbed in face guess what? YOU'RE DEAD :troll:
So a guy wearing a full suit of armour is definitely going to be a hard fuck to take down. That's what specials are for! as you fight, your chi or adrenaline builds up. This can be spent on a special attack to do srs dmg. And or knock the fucker down so you can stab him right proper in a vulnerable point.
So, to re iterate this Knight has his helmet visor up, and you stab him in the face and he dies instantly, and he's like " OMG H4X IM WEARING FOOL ARMOUR NOOP" and you're gonna be like " Had you're visor up, dumbass. lrn2knight u faggot. :troll:"
It would be awesome and hard at the same time. because alot of stuff will be fucking imbalanced.. Most important.. Make sure you have a great aiming, so I can hit the part not protected between a leg and pelvis while wearing a full plate so I chop his foot off. :troll:
Also, make sure you can cut heads and body parts :troll:
One of the most important stuff that wasn't mentioned (or I TL;DR'd): Arcane users. Bishops, monks, sages, sorcerers, necromancers, wizards, magicians, night blades, bards, alchemists, conjurers etc.
And I don't ask for imbalanced attacks like "METEOR STRIKE LOL A HUGE BURNING ROCK FELL ON U LOL U GOT TOTALLY SQUIESHED AND DIED AHAHA", but rather more realistic attacks, such as acid vials that were used in medieval times ("LOL U MAD BRAH? U MAD AT ME? WANT SOME ACID IN YOUR FACE? THROW LOL HAHAH HUGE SCARS AND NO SIGHT LOL U GOT OWNED AHAHA"). Or Homunculus. Artificial life. Or putting a soul in a body. Or the classic fireball xD
You get the idea. It's a fantasy world, right? Well, it doesn't have to be physical only.
And the class choosing system should be Morrowind/Oblivion-ish (You can choose from MANY presets or make your own class with chosen skills).
That is all suggestions for now.
:O Acid vial grenades you say? DOOOOOOD that is a great idea. Although i already planned traditional pirate type grenades(shrapnel)That'll be ANOTHER way to counter plate armour. Even though a full suit of Plate Mail would be expensive as hell. Not only acid, but this could prove to be able to pave way for more effects, such as Napalm or Greek Fire.
Although the reason why i didn't mention actual magic such as fireballs and stuff, is because magic can only be performed by Demons or any other undead/supernatural entity.
There is however a need for Holy blessings and the like. In the game lore, The undead (when they have a massive congregation) give off a pretty bad Miasma. Exposure to Miasma will make a player's heart corrupt and faithless, and thus he becomes very weak to Demonic spells. As such, there will be a need for Priest type players and Paladins to preech during battles. Although the prayers will do much more than just restore their friend's sanctity, some prayers even give a morale boost allowing comrades to sprint longer, and fight harder in general.
So, as a recap, every player has a sanctity meter. This goes from 100% to -100%. The lower this is, the more susceptible to dark magic the player would be. The higher it is, the more hopeful and courageous you become. Things the affect this meter is Miasma, Dark Magic, and even participating in Dark Rituals which will have a really serious affect. Places such as Crypts/tombs will have some Miasma in them naturally, but Miasma also appears where ever the Undead congregate en masse. Miasma will appear as black foggy clouds blanketing the earth.
TL;DR the only real magic class available to Humans would be something along the lines of Priests/Monks and Paladins(Knight/Priest)
There will be a few items available as well to enhance the priest's abilities, such as Vestments, rods and staffs.
As far as Demons go, mostly of what they have are Status effecting magics that can lower Morale and Necromantic magics such as raising the undead. Demons are also known as pretty fearsome warriors, with their bare hands and even a weapon.
Final Legend: The Classing system
In your first steps into the world, you'll be classless. This is your time to get the ropes and see what you prefer to be doing, what weapons you like etc. The maximum character level cap is 50, and most skills in-game go up to 10 levels.
Now as you use weaponry and such, each weapon gives a certain type of experience. When you successfully level up, you'll have to choose a perk. These perks are drawn from your experience, and choosing one would lead you down the perk tree to higher levels.
So for example, your first three levels you'll be classless. But say you use primarily spear the whole time, and on your fourth level up, you'll be prompted to pick a perk.
You'll probably have around 3 to 4 choices, and your first perk choice is your class defining perk.
the use of Spear would lead you down to choose one of these two
Spear Militia: A peasant made soldier who specialises in Spear
Perk Bonus: you do a little more damage with spears, and spears become your specialty.
Halberd Militia: A peasant made soldier who specialises in heavy duty polearms.
Perk Bonus: You do a little more damage with Halberds and glaives, etc.
These are only the beginning Jobs/Classes and they branch out and lead to better ones, such as knighthood.
Another example would be..
Man at Arms(Lvl 4) -> Swordsman(Lvl8) -> Squire(Lvl12) -> Knight(Quest completion required,also lvl16) -> Captain(Lvl20)->Lord(lvl30, must own land)
Annnnd it goes on. There's usually a 4 level gap in between promotions, and some promotions have certain requirements such as a quest to prove your valour as a knight.
But don't worry, the quests as such wont be a hassle, and in fact the Knighthood quest is pretty sad,but exciting. ( SPOILER ALERT: The Knight you were a Squire to gets mortally wounded in battle, and Knights you, and gives an I'm proud of how you fought today speech and subsequently dies.)
Remember guys: The trollface is not a right; it's a privilege. Don't over use it.
[This message is brought to you by the War Clan County Forum Department]
As far as Game types or if the game gets released..
I plan it to come with a single player and multiplayer.
In single player, you play the storyline/campaign setting as you complete missions and purchase upgrades in towns inbetween missions with the loot you gain. You'll be playing as quite a few characters during the single player; people such as Leon van Hoffen(Typical legendary weapon using hero #1), Cecil Fahrenheit(Typical legendary weapon using hero #2), Richter Liechtenauer(Knight), Sigmund von Danzig(Paladin), and Chistophe Armenbleu(Pole axe specialist) to name a few.
In Multiplayer, you create your own character, and kinda like RuneScape, play in a free roam world and do whatever you want. You can fish, cut wood, produce shit like weapons and armour, merchant, practice your skills as a warrior or whatnot. There'll be a lot of quests and content offered, even randomly generated PvP/PvE style mercenary missions, where you can participate in Sieges, Assassinations, Intelligence stealing, Sabotage, Total War and Rescue/Resupply missions.
The Multiplayer world is pretty ambient. It has a night and day sequence, and some npc will actually TRY to play the game. At night time there might be an off chance that the town you're in might be marked and put under siege by the undead.
The world is kind of like Runescape in the fact that it'll be very open. You'll meet all sorts of people on your travels. You could just pop up and save some random stranger's ass, or a random stranger could save your ass!
All that and no turn based faggotry to get in your way :mellow:
So basically, Final Legend is a Tactical Renaissance Fantasy MMO RPG.
If all goes well and a lot of people buy/like it, might even consider making a Strategy/RTS game with an FL(Final Legend) theme pasted on it.
