It's a federal offense to deface currency.

No it isn't.

Legality of Lioncash
Creating Lioncash is not only easy and fun, it is 100% legal. According to the U.S. Bureau of Printing and Engraving:

[w]hoever mutilates, cuts, disfigures, perforates, unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, Federal Reserve Bank, or Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such item(s) unfit to be reissued, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both. 1

In other words, it is perfectly legal to write or draw anything you like on U.S. currency — even LOL DONGS or FUCK YOU GEORGE W. BUSH — so long as you're not trying to render the bill useless as currency.>:3

i think if youre drawing 'LOL DONGS' or anything offensive it could be a reasonable assumption that your intent IS to render them 'unfit to be reissued', because arguably a bill with something like that could be considered 'unfit' for a bank or even a store to reissue to their customers who could get offended.

so.. it still seems illegal =p

ALSO. i dont understand why its called LION cash.

nor the point of lion cash. other than like 'haha look i drew a face on this bill lololol!' or is that the entire point? =P

  1. The point of the legality of it is that Lion Cash isn't defacing to destroy the value of it nor to make it able to use as a currency. In other words, it's not scribbling shit all over the numbers on the bill and everything so you can't see anything and making it technically not a dollar. This point is also proven in the "Where's George?" stamp.
  2. It is a lion's face.
  3. People getting offended isn't the reason why defacing it is illegal.
  4. It's not just a face. IT'S A LION!@!!21111

Does Kar am know now?

ohhhh. i sort of get it !! thanks ambalamps. =]
